Exercise therapy is one of the cornerstones of modern physiotherapy. However, a common misconception is that specific exercises are linked to specific diagnoses, and that physiotherapists simply prescribe standardized exercise programs where everyone with the same condition performs the same movements. In clinical practice, the reality is far more nuanced. Two patients with the same diagnosis may receive completely different exercises, while two patients with entirely different diagnoses may perform the same fundamental exercise. The difference often lies not in the exercise itself, but in how it is selected, modified, dosed, and progressed throughout rehabilitation.
