Variations in Gluteus Medius Activity During the Clam Exercise: The Role of Hip Flexion Angle
A recent study demonstrates that the clam exercise activates different segments of the gluteus medius depending on hip flexion angle. Greater hip flexion (45–60°) results in higher activation of the posterior gluteus medius, while passive hip internal rotation mobility appears to have minimal influence. These findings are clinically relevant for optimizing exercise prescription in rehabilitation and physiotherapy.
