Knee osteoarthritis is one of the most common causes of chronic pain, functional limitation, and reduced quality of life among adults and older individuals. Exercise therapy is widely recognized as a first-line intervention, yet persistent pain often limits patients’ ability to train with sufficient intensity and progression. A randomized clinical trial published in Scientific Reports in December 2025 examined whether dry needling combined with exercise produces superior clinical outcomes compared with exercise alone in individuals with knee osteoarthritis, with follow-up at six months.
