Aging is often accompanied by gradual declines in physical capacity and cognitive performance. Even relatively small reductions in strength, balance, mobility, or memory can affect an older person's ability to perform everyday activities independently. Regular exercise is already recommended as an important part of healthy aging, but researchers continue to investigate which types of exercise provide the greatest overall benefits.
