Adding Functional Training Reduced Pain and Improved Function in Postpartum Pelvic Girdle Pain
Pelvic girdle pain after childbirth can make ordinary activities disproportionately demanding. Turning in bed, rising from a chair, climbing stairs, lifting the baby, or standing for longer periods may become painful. At the same time, these symptoms occur during a phase of life in which opportunities for rest and adjustment are often limited. Treatment therefore needs to address more than pain during a clinical examination. It must also consider how the body functions during the repeated physical demands of caring for a young child.
