Low-Load Blood Flow Restriction Training as an Alternative to Heavy-Load Resistance Training After ACL Reconstruction
A randomized controlled trial demonstrates that low-load blood flow restriction training (LL-BFRT) produces comparable improvements in quadriceps and hamstring strength to heavy-load resistance training during early rehabilitation following BPTB ACL reconstruction. No differences were observed in knee pain, joint swelling, or range of motion. These findings support LL-BFRT as a safe and clinically relevant alternative when high mechanical loading is not feasible.
